Comment on Comments

From time to time, my daughter sends me a link to one of those film clips on YouTube or netface or whatever, and I go over and browse them for a while. Some of them are quite funny. Even more interesting is to scan thru the many astute, well-thought-out comments some of the clips receive. Perhaps a typical one will read something like (editing is mine): “F*&k you, you muther-f#@king c%*t! I cill you!” Brief, eloquent, and right to the point.

Makes one wonder about the quality of education we are turning out these days, assuming most of these users are teens, as we are told. Of course, I would bet that that same writer is a master of whatever top monster-smashing video game is popular this week, and able to text-message 3 friends at a time while driving his/her daddy’s car at a high rate of speed. I must be getting old.

On second thought, or maybe third, perhaps this is just another cry for attention: SOMEONE PLEASE NOTICE ME! In fact, perhaps that is what the whole internet/blog/myspace thing is all about.
