Honor Our Veterans

We just recently sold our home and moved to an apartment in the Golden Legacy senior complex, in beautiful Baldwinsville, New York.  Lots of nice neighbors, though we do lose one from time to time.  Kind of like a small town, but with all the citizens over 55.

A while back, one of the newer residents decided we needed a flag in front of the office building.  He arranged a flag from our congressman that had been flown over the white house in Washington, and the apartment owners agreed to help with the flagpole and lights if he could get the residents to donate.

It was a lot of work, but Ray and Jim got it done.  They had a granite plaque made, purchased and installed a flagpole to hold the flag, dedicating it to our veterans, and arranged an impressive dedication ceremony with a number of politicians (just before elections), dignitaries, military people, and even a bugler.  Being a senior residence, of course, many of our men and women, including myself, are veterans, and it was a nice honor.  Great to see that flag waving in the morning.

“A Veteran- whether Active Duty,
Retired, National Guard or Reserve is
someone who, at one point in his life,
wrote a blank check made payable to
“The United States of America”, for an
amount of “up to and including my life”

That is Honor, and there are way too
many people in this country who no
longer under stand it.”
